Castaway Cay

Our second port of call was Castaway Cay, a private island leased by Disney from the Bahamian government. Formerly a drug-trafficking weigh station, midway between the Bahamas and the U.S., it had a runway, housing for ~100 Disney staff, activities, and -- most importantly -- private cabanas for rent.

Here, Cate, Ellie and Ava commune with several sharks and other large fish.

I'll Have the Fish

The Atlantis aquarium has areas that are underwater, including a mock-archeological expedition through the ruins of Atlantis. Those eels are sleeping in the amphora (now there's a string of words I would never imagine ever being strung together).

Bon Voyage!

Shortly before we set sail, Char and I discovered the Bon Voyage bar, a surprisingly quiet spot on Deck Three.

Port of Call: Nassau, Bahamas

Here we are dockside at Nassau, after our excursion to explore the Atlantis resort.

Discovering Atlantis

Our first stop on the cruise was Nassau, Bahamas. We planned a day excursion to the resort to see if it is someplace we'd like to return to for a longer vacation. The girls and I spent an hour on the beach; Char hit the Atlantis casino. From there, we checked out the Atlantis resort, and their aquarium.

Finally!

No, no cruise photos yet, but rather some dog-in-snow photos, from a recent snow storm. We had about an inch accumulation overnight, a cruel tease for Indiana.
